Introduction to Daniel's Adventures

Daniel, the last wild and free dragon, stood at the entrance to his mother's cave high above the valley floor. For many months Daniel had waited for his mother to return to the valley, but she had been captured, imprisoned, and was no longer free. In a dream his mother had told him there were things that he must do before he could set her free, and that he needed to leave the valley and go out into the world in order to do them. It was time for him to leave the only home he had ever known.

It was dark outside and the stars shone brightly in the night's sky. All of Daniel's forest friends were fast asleep as he leaped from the ledge of his mother's cave into the lonely night's wintry skies. It was snowing lightly as he began his flight out of the valley. Although he did not know exactly where he was going, he flew over one mountain and valley to another and yet another and into the night. His heart guided him through the long night and his mother was with him to comfort and assure him. As he flew he pondered the many happy memories of his forrest friends. Also as Daniel flew onward into the night, the light snows increased into a blizzard.

Daniel reflected upon the months his mother had been gone; whenever he truly needed her, he only had to turn his thoughts to her and ask for the help he needed. She would comfort him and speak to his mind and heart; she also visited him in dreams to provide further comfort and guidance. In his most recent dream that caused him to take flight into the night, Daniel had been so happy to see her; it was as if she were really with him. She said to him, "Even though we are far apart, I will be with you always and will help guide you on your journey; as long as you remember me and do not forget me I can speak to you in your mind and heart and visit you in your dreams--whenever you need me!" Daniel loves his mother very much and is so grateful for her love and guidance. As he flew into the night he sent thoughts and feelings to his mother about the pure love he felt toward her.

A lot had happened to Daniel since his mother had been captured and imprisoned. He had been too young to fly or breathe fire before she had gone. He hadn't even ever left the cave, except to peer from its ledge into the valley far below. But during the months she had been gone, he had learned to fly, to find food, to breathe fire, and he had become a trusted friend of the forrest animals in the valley.

It was his mother that had first suggested to his mind to observe how the forrest creatures find food. He had watched a squirrel disappear down a tree trunk beneath the snow and reappear with a pinecone that was filled with pine nuts. He learned from animals that lived beneath the snow, how to find grasses and seeds that were blanketed by the snow. Birds had taught him to find berries and fruits. As he observed the other forrest animals, they had taught him where and how to find food beneath the winter snows, or in bushes and trees. He had also helped them, shared with them, and never taken or stolen from them. Many times he had chased predators from the valley. He had also organized their efforts to store more food for the winter than anyone of them could have done had he not so carefully united their efforts.

Daniel and his forrest friends had grown to love and trust each other and to work together for the common good of each animal that lived within the valley. Under Daniel's watchful eye they had become the happiest and safest animals on earth. However, in his dream he had learned that he could not do the things he must do, without leaving the valley to befriend humans. This was a dangerous task, for no dragon has successfully befriended a human in over a thousand years.

Since his mother's capture, Daniel is the only free and wild dragon remaining in the world, and even though he wants to free his mother more than anything else, she told him not to attempt to find or free her until after he completes his mission. Only by completing his mission will he become sufficiently prepared and strengthened to both find and free her. If he is not sufficiently prepared, Daniel will also be captured and there will never be another free and wild dragon upon the earth. These thoughts strengthened his determination as he flew even further into the night.

Daniel's mother told him that he must befriend good-hearted humans and successfully teach them how to receive pure hearts. His mother had taught him that any human that receives a pure heart also receives a renewed body that is strengthened sufficiently to be able to live for about a thousand years. The average dragon and human lives fewer than 80 years. Daniel's job was a big one because the hearts and minds of men had become corrupted through priestcrafts that had spread throughout the entire earth. Even the most pure men lived in error because of priestcrafts.

Daniel had been taught by his mother that priestcrafts are when humans set themselves up as a light unto the world for the purpose of obtaining wealth and power. Rather than turning others to the creator for light and truth, practitioners of priestcraft conspire to gain a profitable advantage over others. Through greed, they jealously guard their "authoritative" light. The earth has been filled with priestcraft for so long, that not a single living soul on the earth remembers how life is supposed to be lived.

Not one person today remembers how to receive every temporal need from God. Rather, men run about afraid what will become of them if they have no money. They have replaced a trust in God with a trust in money and seeking to get gain and to "make a living" has become considered normal and right. No man today really knows how to receive "all" temporal needs from God without, as did ancient Israel.

Daniel's mother had lived on earth since its beginning and had known and been friends with pure-hearted humans. She had even been a protector of various utopian societies that were groups of people where everyone in the group was pure-hearted. She told Daniel that there are no rich or poor in utopian societies and that people do not even use money or seek to exchange or barter their goods with one another. Rather; just as the animals, plants, and trees in the valley that is Daniel's home, they all contribute toward the common good of the society. Each receives according to pure wants and needs. There is no measuring of individual contributions for the purpose of exchange and there is no greed. No one takes or uses more than they need, and each member of the society cares as much about one another as they care about themselves.

The only measurements that occur in such societies is to evaluate how one is doing within their own stewardship. For instance, one may contribute beautiful music, another poetry, another food, and another clothing or shelter. Stewardships are accounted for to determine what the needs are of the individual to enable them to more fully magnify their stewardship. Also, to determine if the person is desirous and able to increase his or her stewardship in order to contribute even more to the society. No one chooses a stewardship that they do not fully love and that does not bring them great happiness as they serve others with their gifts. For example, a true builder considers the personality and the gifts of each person for which he is building. Each new edifice built is perfectly customized to the uniqueness of individuals.

All service is provided out of love and is shared and received with love. No money is exchanged and no energy is waisted seeking or planning how one will get along in the world. Life is a gift as are the gifts and talents and contributions of each member of the society. Truly, such people love one another as they love themselves and cannot even imagine having to live without another member of the society. For example, if the musician did not have everything he or she needed to be able to contribute inspiring and extraordinary music, then the builder of the musician's home would not be the beneficiary of the great and wondrous music.

Similar to each member of the human body, each member of utopian societies fulfill vital roles. Just as the eye does not say to the foot, "I have no need of thee," neither does the builder say to the musician, "I have no need of thee." Rather, each member in the society is an integral part of a perfect whole, just as every part of the body makes up a complete and whole body. Utopian societies are the happiest on earth. Just as the body cares for the hands with as much love as it cares for the eyes or the mouth, so too do members of utopian societies care for and look after one another.

Daniel's mother explained that no such people or society can exist unless each member has a perfectly pure heart. It is Daniel's mission to teach humans how to become perfectly pure and to be restored in mind, heart, and body until they become as the noble and intelligent patriarchs of olden times, who each roamed the earth for nearly a thousand years. Daniel's mother had been a protector of utopians against impure people who were jealous of utopian wealth and abundance. From time to time impure people would mount attacks upon utopian societies out of a desire to take their possessions. Daniel's mother had fought the battles of many utopians, insomuch that they did not even need weapons to defend themselves.

However, man eventually became so evil that the creator of heaven and earth removed the pure societies from the earth for a time. It has been 1800 years since a utopian society has existed on earth and since dragons lived among humans. Most people now think dragons are mythical creatures of superstition and legend and that they have never really existed. But dragons do live and do exist. It is Daniel's mission to teach people who want to learn, how to return to the ways of these former and happier times. Daniel will teach some people how to become pure hearted and how to live after the true manner of happiness and how to live to the age of a tree. As he flew through the night, he felt much gratitude toward his animal friends who had helped him to be so happy and not so quite alone after his mother had been taken. He hoped to befriend some humans who would become as dear to him as his forrest friends.

When Daniel could fly no further he circled lower and lower into a valley looking for a suitable place to land. Because he couldn't see through the blizzard, he followed his heart until at last he landed before a barn that was on a farm that belonged to a kind family of humans. Daniel had never seen a barn before, but sensed the presence of animals inside and sought for an opening into the barn to escape the night's storm. He pushed through a door and went inside. The animals in the barn were restless and did not recognize the scent of a wild dragon. The cattle lowed, the chickens fidgeted upon their roosts, and the horses nickered.

Daniel was too tired, too cold, and too weary to try making new friends this night--with either man or animal. He spotted a very tall pile of what looked like dried grasses and flew to the top of the pile; then, scratched out a comfortable place in the hay to lay down. Before falling fast asleep Daniel buried himself in the hay to protect himself from the cold; then he slept. In the house near the barn a family also slept, unaware of their visitor. Each were snuggled warmly in their beds and each felt an excitement course through them that brought sweet dreams of a beautiful city where all people were exceedingly happy.

As Daniel slept soundly atop of the hay, his mother appeared in a dream again and said, "Daniel, you are now in a valley of humans and you will help many of them receive pure hearts." "Today you will meet a family who will care for and love you; they will assist you and help you to fulfill your mission." She also told Daniel that he would become as one of their own family members and would even be able to appear as a human when it was helpful to do so. Daniel told his mother how much he loved and missed her and was so happy to see her again. He slept soundly, peacefully, and happily as he recovered from his long wintry flight through the night.

Discussion and Activity

Discuss the following activities that you can do to help you live a long and happy life:
  1. Good Food and Drink: Daniel will be very hungry when he awakes in the morning. Dragons, just like children, must eat the right food if they want to live long and be strong and healthy. Be sure to ask your mother to prepare a wonderful meal for you and Daniel before he wakes up. If you want to learn how Daniel eats, then click on the following link. Here you can watch, with your mother, how to make yummy soups, salads, drinks, desserts, and other wonderful foods. Each week, as we share Daniel's Adventures with you, we will share some of Daniel's favorite foods. Be sure to share them with your mother and ask her to make them for you!  Click Here to Learn How Daniel Eats and to read His Challenge.
  2. 2. Physical Activity: If you want to live to long and be happy you must work, exercise, play sports, and do other things to move your body. Just as you must go potty each day to get rid of the left over waste that comes from foods you eat, each cell in your body uses the nutrients they receive from the foods you eat. After consuming those nutrients, your cell also go potty or expel waste. These leave the cell and go into the fluids that exist around your cells. These fluids must be cleaned up or the body becomes toxic and sick. Only through physical movement are these fluids cleaned up and and returned to the bloodstream. You must exercise or be involved in physical activity each day in order to continually remove toxins from your body. Your body is beautiful, strong, and capable. Protect it and take care of it. Find some form of exercise you love, whether it is to mow lawns, go hiking, swimming, bicycling, or otherwise and do it daily. Remember, choose physical activities you enjoy and enjoy them often. If you want to learn more about your body works so you can better care for it, read Chapter Two of Original Fast Foods. It talks about each of the twelve systems of the body and how they work together to make a perfect and healthy body, just as people in Utopian Societies work together enjoy a perfect society.
  3. Proper Rest and Sleep: Just as it is important for Daniel to sleep soundly so that he can recover from his flight to the new valley, so too as you sleep, your body works to clean itself up, to repair damage, and to recruit new strength and prepare itself for another day. Ask your parents to allow you to go to bed early each evening so that you will be asleep during the magical healing and rebuilding hours. Click Here to Learn a Few Ideas about Proper Rest and Exercise!
  4. Pure Heart and Mind: Daniel wants you to know that most people today have forgotten that while good diet, exercise, and sleep are important, nothing is nearly as important as the state of your mind and heart. A primary secret to living to the age of a tree, is to receive a perfectly pure heart and mind. Click Here to Read about How to Receive a Pure Heart and Mind!
